Richard Ward

Richard works in his homestead studio and trims wheel-thrown pots on bats, using carbide carvers and steel loops to carve clean corners and “rabbit tracks.” He rescues thin-walled mugs by trimming joints and reshaping pulled handles, then throws oya pots for slow drip irrigation in desert gardens. Finally, he crafts one-gallon oil pots on the wheel—refining necks for cork seals and stamping each rim—capturing every hand movement in real time.
